Understanding Pain and Orthopedic Massage

Our body is like a fine machine that runs efficiently by coordinating complex systems such as the circulatory system and the digestive system. Whether by a gradual or acute process, when one or more of these systems are out of balance, we will experience pain.

The Musculoskeletal system, which allows the movement of our bodies, follows the same imperative. We will all at one time or another experience a form of musculoskeletal dysfunction. This dysfunction can range from a simple muscle spasm, strain, or joint sprain to more complex problems such as those requiring surgical replacement of worn joints. Temporary conditions brought on by pregnancy or excessive exercise are also common. Musculoskeletal dysfunction is experienced regardless of gender or age, and it becomes more symptomatic as we get older.

Orthopedic massage helps to restore the health and balance of muscles and joints within their potential conditions. The Chó Therapy Method,* in conjunction with orthopedic massage, helps to return stability of the musculoskeletal structure. Pain or discomfort caused by musculoskeletal related dysfunction may be eased or eliminated.

Orthopedic massage is particularly beneficial to people suffering from joint or muscle pain, especially in areas such as, knees, hips, lower back, shoulders, and neck. Other people who can benefit from orthopedic massage include physically active and athletic types, and people involved in repetitive movements or stationary positions such as sitting, standing, or constant walking. It will also enhance healing and recovery for people who have undergone joint replacement therapy.
